PAMAS - February

February has been a lot of construction. We started working on making and pouring foundations in preparation for a mission trip from Angel One. I helped run the excavator at the construction site. We set up basically a large funnel on top of our cement mixer and we would use the excavator to dump in sand and gravel to mix for the cement. We would then use a front loading tractor to take the cement to the foundation and pour it there and people would spread it out and smooth it. Evidently, we planned on having three foundations poured and the frames pre-made for the mission trip. We ended up getting five foundations poured, frames set up and all five, and the roofs finished on them all before the mission trip came.

About two weeks ago was the mission trip. Around 15 guys came from Angel One to help with construction. Most of them were from Canada, one was from the US, and a couple were from the Czech Republic. Since we already had the frames and roofs done, we immediately started on strapping the frames, electrical lines, and plumbing. I helped for a couple days and then something else came up.

I worked with Messiah's Mansion in the US and did around 11 exhibits with them, so I have some experience. I didn't know it, but there is a ministry here in the Philippines that is inspired by Messiah's Mansion. It's basically the same, except it's built off the 16 inch cubit which is smaller than the standard 18 inch cubit we used with Messiah's Mansion, and it looks a little different. This past week was the SSD-wide Pathfinder Camporee held at Mountain View College. I didn't know about it until the week before when Mr. Harris asked if I wanted to be a tour guide. I said sure and met up with the rest of the people on Thursday to help with the training. We gave a couple tours that afternoon and over the weekend as well. Most of the campers came on Sunday for the start of the camporee. I never found out how many, but I heard that it was at least 10,000 Pathfinders not including staff etc, possibly more. Anyways, it was a lot. We started giving a lot of tours on Monday and kept that up for the rest of the week. I went there about 7:45 every morning (It worked best), and we opened around 8:30. They would routinely go until 9 pm or so every evening, but I had to leave around 5 every day. The tours at Messiah's Mansion are a little more than an hour, but here they were much shorter, around 30 minutes max. It took a little getting used to learning how to cram so much information into that amount of time and also make it more concise. It was a great week though and we saw a lot of people come through the tours. We "ended" on Sabbath, but it sounds like they won't take it down for another couple of weeks and I might still help out sometimes depending on if they need me.

The Angel One group had to leave on Friday, so I wasn't able to help them any more with the construction project, but they've finished pretty much everything in the houses except for things like the windows, floors, painting, and a little mudding on the drywall. Because of the humidity here, drywall mud takes a long time to dry.

Please continue to pray for God's blessing as we continue to work here and try to make PAMAS a better place and for the Farm Stew training that is starting soon for new missionaries. Thank you for all your prayers and support.
